This is official description
This program allow you to open the game resource files in an explorer-like interface then extract the content at will.
This tool searches for known patterns in unknown file formats. This allows to extract texture, sounds, music and more from unknown file formats!
If the game is not supported, Dragon UnPACKer include a very useful tool named HyperRipper.
Dragon UnPACKer is based on three (3) kind of plugins :
1. Driver plugins: Allowing Dragon UnPACKer to natively/directly open file formats, if no driver plugin recognize the file your only hope is HyperRipper.
2. Convert plugins: Permits conversion of custom/exotic file formats to common file formats (example: convert a RAW texture to a Windows Bitmap .BMP file)
3. HyperRipper plugins: Search the patterns into files

Dragon unPACKer is a utility designed to open and explore game package files. Unlike other utilities, DUP supports file types of over 80 games. The package files are files where all the resources of a game are bundled. Maps, models, textures and even the code can be all inside a package file. It is common for mod developers to use resources of the original game to help them with their own development. That is why unpackers are popular in the mod community. But no program has as many files supported as this. Also, if the game is not supported, there is still hope, because the program includes a utility called HyperRipper. What this does is searches for patterns in the files so they can be extracted like the others. It is not 100% reliable, but is an option you can have. The interface is very similar to a file explorer, and you can extract any file you want. It also includes a small utility called Duppi, so you can download new pattern plug-ins and support more games. This is a complete unpacker. If you handle files from different games, this is the only program you need. |

What's new in version 5.6
Added new macros to the create list feature:
Available in both header & footer:
$$FTOTNUMBYTES$$ Number of bytes in file (formatted with thousands seps)
$$FTOTNUMFILES$$ Number of files in file (formatted with thousands seps)
Available in variable:
$$FSIZE$$ Size (formatted with thousands seps)
$$FOFFSET$$ Offset (formatted with thousands seps)
The formatting is using the regional settings of Windows.
For example, for English (USA) the separator will be a comma "," but for
French (France) it will be a space " ".
- Changed the following 2 macros in create list feature to be usable also in
the header (and not only in footer):
$$TOTNUMBYTES$$ Number of bytes in file
$$TOTNUMFILES$$ Number of files in file
Added Advanced option to accept 0 bytes entries from the Drivers plugins.
When this option is checked the 0 bytes entries are not skipped. This is not
recommended but it will work (extraction will create a 0 bytes file).
Added Basic option to display Data X & Y fields in the content list. Those
fields are used internally by some plugins (and some formats). This is for
debug purposes and will most likely be only useful to me. :p
! Fixed extraction in files of more than 2GB:
The content of entries which offset was after the 2GB position was wrong...
! Fixed drag & drop extraction of files.
! Fixed bug #3361911: OggS & TGA were not working correctly due to the use of
seek from current position (broken in TBufferedFS).
! Changed all .Seek() calls to int64 compatible calls (or Position equivalent).
- Added new main icons for 128x128 and 256x256 (16x16 and 32x32 stays the same)
